Chewy Caramel Chunk Brownies With Caramel Sauce

IMG_1515
These delicious chewy caramel brownies are incredibly easy to make and taste amazing!  You can’t go wrong with caramel and chocolate…yum!

The best part about this recipe is its simple ingredients!  I’m all for making desserts easy, so I started with a boxed brownie mix and some caramels (which I had leftover from my April Fool’s Day dessert).

Start my mixing the required ingredients for the brownie mix.
IMG_1505
Spread half of the batter into a greased 9x13 pan and bake for 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven.  The layer will be thin.

While the first half is baking, unwrap the caramels and cut them into smaller pieces.

Once the first half of your batter has baked for 15 minutes, evenly spread the cut caramels on top of the partially baked brownies and cover with the remaining batter.  (Don’t worry if the second half of the batter doesn’t cover everything, it will still turn out great!)
Bake for an additional 15 – 20 minutes or until the top of the brownies is firm to the touch.  Remove from the oven and cool.

I wanted this to stay a simple recipe, so my caramel sauce is also very easy to make!  Simply add about 1/2 C. of chopped caramels to about 1/4 C. milk  (use less if you want a thicker consistency) and microwave for 20 second increments, stirring in between.  Simple and delicious!
Now drizzle the caramel sauce over the brownies and serve warm (or save it to eat cold for breakfast…delicious either way! (: )

Chewy Caramel Chunk Brownies With Caramel Sauce
1 box brownie mix
1 bag caramels
1/4 C. Milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine brownie mix according to the directions on the box.  Spread 1/2 of the mixture to the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan.  The layer will be thin.  Bake for 15 minutes.
Chop 1 cup of the caramels. (No one will know if you add a few extra!)  Spread the chopped caramels over the first brownie layer in the pan.  Spread the remaining brownie mixture over the caramels covering as much of the first layer as possible.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.  Remove from the oven and cool before cutting into squares.
Combine 1/2 cup caramels and 1/4 cup milk in a microwave safe dish.  Microwave for 20 minute increments, stirring in between until mixture is smooth.  Drizzle over brownies.

Yes please! I've been cleaning out my candy stash with box brownies lately too. So far I've done Hershey Kisses, mini Hershey w/ Almonds, regular mini Hershey and some candy covered chocolate mints. Now I'm wishing I had some caramels!!!

Yum! i have a recipe that uses the boxed brownie mix but you mix in bananas instead of the eggs and oil. I think your idea of the caramel sauce on that would be AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!

Mmm! That looks really good!

I love baking. :) I've been trying to find a really good made from scratch brownie. Do you have any recipes?

Thanks so much! :)

Hi Lauren! I hate to admit that I have NEVER made a from scratch brownie recipe. I've always been happy with the boxed version so I haven't even tried. If you happen to find one that is a keeper, I would love to know the recipe, if you're willing to share!
