I’ve always used a few coupons here and there, but recently I’ve been “extreme couponing”. I’m definitely not in the big leagues, but I did manage to start a small stockpile over the last several weeks. Since I usually buy groceries on a week by week basis, I’m beginning to feel a little bit like a hoarder. I’m not used to having things on hand! Here are some of the deals I scored over the weekend:
Nature Valley Granola Bars – $1 per box
I LOVE these, so I stocked up. I now own 16 boxes! =)
So, I may have over bought on these, but I’ve never seen tampons so cheap! I bought 14 boxes and now have a lifetime supply!
Cover Girl Blush – I made $0.52 on each one!!!
Oral B Floss – $0.22 each
I’m usually a Mary Kay makeup person, but I couldn’t pass up making money when buying these. Score!!
Pert Plus – $0.99 per bottle
Softsoap Body Wash – $1 per bottle
Gillette Body Wash – $1.47 per bottle
I’m pretty sure I won’t need body wash or shampoo for my hubby in quite awhile! My only problem?!?! We do not have a pantry or basement, so I’ve yet to find a great place to store all of my bargains…..hence why my items are still sitting in their Walgreens bags!
Overall, I feel like I got some pretty good deals on some products I use on a daily basis. Plus, the planning is super simple thanks to an amazing blog called The Krazy Coupon Lady. The ladies behind this blog are so helpful with tutorials and advice for beginners like myself!!
But, my favorite part of their blog is the Krazy This Week, where they list the best deals by store and tell you which coupons to use. How easy! I’ve been using this guide to score the best deals.
Since I’m just starting out, do any of you extreme couponers (pretty sure I just made up that word) out there have any tips you’ve learned? I want to make the most of my time and effort, so I’m soaking up all of the coupon knowledge I can get! =)

I've been using couponing for about 3 years, but started really couponing (like doing matchups, only buying on sale, etc) about 2 years ago. One of the things that I had to learn was that I don't have to get in on every deal. It's hard, especially at first, to miss a good deal. And while it's disappointing, the deals will come around again. Also, to avoid becoming a true hoarder, you've got to stop when you have a good supply on hand. Or, if you're going to keep buying, then find somewhere/someone to donate to. Right now I've got a great supply of non-food items (shampoos, toothpaste, etc), so I don't even bother trying to find deals on them. There will be deals out there again when I need them. And eventually you're probably going to get burnt out on coupons. Don't feel bad if you take a break from going to every single store and getting every single deal. The deals will pop up again :)
But for now, enjoy your deals!! Way to go on finding awesome deals. :) It's so much fun!
Sometimes I'm successful with this and other times I'm too lazy to look for the deals - I'm inspired now and will look
So awesome! I keep "putting off" coupon-ing, thanks for the inspiration to dive right in! We host a linky party “Help a Momma Out” every Tuesday. This would be a perfect link up! I would love it if you linked it up! And of course anything else you would like to share is always welcome! Thanks so much!
