Hanging Stars

Are you looking for a cute idea for filling an open space???

I have always loved stars, so I thought this was perfect when I saw what my mom did to fill her open space between her entryway and her stairs!  If I had an open space like this….there is no doubt in my mind that this is what I would do!  It is so simple & inexpensive….yet beautiful!!

Want to know how to create this beautifully elegant look???

What you need:

  • Christmas tree star decorations
  • Fishing line
  • Clear push pins

new 036

She simply took the star decorations and strung fishing line through them at varying lengths.

Then spaced them evenly between the open space and hung them up with a clear push pin!

So easy, yet so elegant and beautiful!!!

Flower Garden Birthday Party

IMG_1129-1

It’s so hard to believe that my baby is 2!  I know people say this all the time, but they seriously grow up too fast!!  To celebrate her big day we had a flower garden themed birthday party.

Invitation

This invitation was created in Photoshop.  I’m just starting to learn the program and had lots of fun putting it all together!  Most of the scrapbook elements I used for the invitation came from Shabby Princess and Summertime Designs.  They have so many great free downloads!  After the invitation was created, I uploaded it to Snapfish and sent it to our local Wal-Mart.  (I despise how much I ALWAYS end up spending at Wal-Mart every week and yet I keep coming back….)

The decorations were very simple.  I bought the butterflies at a local store (Each one was only $5…I knew it would cost me more to make them and additional time I didn’t have)  and made the tissue paper pom-poms using Martha Stewart’s tutorial.  That Martha is one crafty lady!  I absolutely love the butterfly and flower garland because it is strung from my kitchen all the way into my living room.  It was a great way to tie both rooms together!

Macie Collage

Macie had so much fun at her birthday party (she even decided to change into a new outfit as soon as it was opened….after all, it IS boring to wear the same outfit for too long!!!) and I feel blessed that so many of our family members could come help us celebrate.

As a kid, my mom would make Tuna Rice Muffinettes with a tangy butter sauce.  I remember LOVING them and looking forward to when they would be served.  I continue to love them as an adult and make these for my family on a regular basis.  The tangy butter sauce definitely makes this already delicious recipe even more scrumptious!  Now, on to the recipe:

Tuna Rice Muffinettes With Tangy Butter Sauce

Start by cooking 2 cups of rice and preheating your oven to 375 degrees.

IMG_1104

While your rice is cooking, mix the following together in a bowl:

1 – 6 oz. can tuna (drained)

1/2 cup chopped onions

1 tablespoon parsley

1 teaspoon salt

2 eggs (beaten)

2 tablespoons milk

3/4 C. black olives (chopped) *optional*

Mix well.

IMG_1105

Add your 2 cups of cooked rice to your tuna mixture.

IMG_1107

Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese to your rice and tuna mixture.  Mix well.

IMG_1108

Spray 6 muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray.  Press rice mixture into the muffin cups, forming a rounded top.  Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.  Loosen with spatula and serve with tangy butter sauce.

Tangy Butter Sauce:

1/4 cup butter

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon salt
